  1. Congratulations ladies!

  2. Who was the lucky winner! 🙂

  3. Rice and beans is my favorite quick meal to make.

  4. Channing Chandler says:

One family favorite penny pinching recipe is potatoe salad. I use 1 cup sour cream, 1/2 jar real mayo, 6-7 baby dill pickles, 6 hard boiled eggs, 6 potatoes. Makes for a delish side dish & very inexpensive. Thanks for the opportunity to win this awesome cookbook! I love cooking & trying new recipes 🙂

    • You are very welcome! I love me some potato salad as well especially the southern version with mustard! Now I want some potato salad! I may have to make some this week. I would make some tomorrow but meatloaf and mash potatoes are on the menu LOL. You use baby dill pickles and I use sweet relish, bell pepper, and onion in mine LOL. I really love seeing all these variations of traditional meals.

  5. Sharon R. says:

I like spaghetti…I can make lots of it, use half and freeze some for another week. I also like to make a big batch of greens to freeze as well. I want to try making some soup…but it hasn’t gotten cold here yet! 🙂

    • Sharon, see now you had to go mention a big batch of greens LOL! I love me some Collard greens with smoked turkey wings and a touch of vinegar! They are to die for hehehe. I am going to make a big pot for Thanksgiving!

  6. Amanda Steingiesser says:

My mothers quick and cheap chili,

Ground beef (1 lb for fan of 4)
    Chili powder to taste
Garlic powder to taste (can use fresh chopped if you prefer)
    Dash of season salt
Onions (I used onion powder as I love the flavor but not the texture) to taste
Green chilies 8 oz (per lb of beef) (optional)
Dash of Chilula hot sauce (optional)
Ketchup to taste (can use tomato sauce, paste, and sugar and get the same effect)

    • Hi Amanda! Thanks for posting your recipe! I have never tried green chillies in chili. I may have to try that. Do you not put any kidney beans or chili beans in your chili? I was just wondering. Your recipe is so different and unique from anything that I’ve seen before.:) Thanks again for sharing!

  7. My two favorite dishes are crockpot turkey chili and my especial chicken enchiladas casserole!

  8. Taco Salad, Mac n Cheese with shredded chicken, Chicken Alfredo and of course Spaghetti.

  9. Spaghetti or chili!

  10. Lasagne and pound cake!

  11. beef stew, spaghetti, soups at this time of year

  12. macaroni, potato salad, pound cake

  13. I LOVE budget friendly recipes, I know our favorite in my household is chilli and that lasts for a VERY long time! I look forward to learning new budget friendly family meals!

    • Ooooh chili is wonderful for this time of year and very budget friendly! Spaghetti is also easy on your finances and always better the next day for left overs! Thanks for sharing Trista and good luck!
